After obtaining a full-fledged Merchant Banker License from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the Bank launched its merchant banking operations through the Merchant Banking Wing (MBW) in 2009. Later, in accordance with the directive of Bangladesh Bank, the Board of Directors of Standard Islami Bank PLC. formed a separate subsidiary company named SBL Capital Management Limited. Subsequently, the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) issued the Certificate of Incorporation and Certificate of Commencement of Business in favor of the company. The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) thereafter issued a full-fledged Merchant Banker License in the name of Standard Islami Bank Capital Management Limited. The company commenced its operations in January 2011, following the transfer and transformation of all activities of the Bank's erstwhile Merchant Banking Wing (MBW) to the subsidiary.
